Many factors can lead to teeth staining or darkening:
- Smoking
- Drinking tea, coffee, or red wine
- Skipping oral hygiene like brushing and flossing
- Old root canals for infected teeth
- Medications like tetracycline
- Natural aging
Over-the-counter whiteners are usually not powerful enough to significantly improve tooth color, and sometimes even professional whitening technologies can miss the mark. Many people also have cracks or chipping from accidents, or gaps between their teeth These can also make the affected areas hard to clean and lead to not only cavities, but periodontal disease that infects the gum tissue and ultimately could weaken the teeth enough that they need to be extracted.
Smile Makeover
Fortunately, Wilshire Smile Studio can provide you customized dental veneers to solve these problems. Advances in molding and shaping porcelain with precision provide cost-effective options for creating veneers that exactly match your natural tooth color. Veneers can even improve your tooth color and shape so you can have full confidence in your smile. Porcelain looks just like a natural tooth, protects teeth better from decay than alternatives like composite material, and is very durable, meant to last for many years. It also doesn’t cause the gum discoloration or allergic reaction that some commonly-used metals do.
Creating the perfect veneers for your unique set of teeth requires skill and a sense of aesthetics. We work hard to get the shade right and use proportions that match the lips and rest of the face. If you still desire professional teeth whitening, this needs to be done in advance, so we can match the shade of the veneers to the new shade of your teeth. The right bonding material is important for strength and biocompatibility. Veneers can be such a game-changer that only top-notch dental laboratories should be used to craft them, yet many dental practices use overseas labs to save money, despite the fact that they produce inferior work. In contrast, Wilshire Smile Studio uses a domestic lab so we can communicate better with them to get the best results.

Dental veneers in Los Angeles: questions patients ask
Short answers from Wilshire Smile Studio. More on our veneers FAQ page.
How much do veneers cost in Los Angeles?
At Wilshire Smile Studio, composite veneers start at $100 per tooth and porcelain veneers at $1,000 per tooth. The final price depends on how many teeth you treat and which material you choose. A $99 veneers consultation with X-rays gives you an exact quote, and financing and payment plans are available.
Are porcelain veneers worth it?
That depends on your budget and how long you want the result to last. Porcelain veneers start at $1,000 per tooth and, with proper care, usually last 10 years or more. Over 10 years, the starting price works out to about $100 per tooth per year. They look natural and resist stains. Composite veneers start at $100 per tooth and are often done in a single visit, but they typically last around five years. If a tooth only needs a color change, professional whitening may be enough.
How long do veneers last?
Porcelain veneers usually last 10 years or more with normal brushing, flossing and check-ups. Composite veneers typically last around five years and can be repaired or replaced. Avoid biting hard objects, and ask us for a night guard if you grind your teeth while you sleep.
What is the difference between porcelain and composite veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin shells made in a dental lab and bonded to the front of the teeth over two or three visits. They are the most natural-looking and stain-resistant option. Composite veneers are shaped by the dentist directly on the tooth in a single visit with no lab, cost less, and are easier to repair. Read our guide to porcelain vs composite veneers.
Who places veneers at Wilshire Smile Studio?
Our dentists are Dr. Fariba Aslemand and Dr. David Sewell, each with more than 30 years of experience. Your consultation, tooth preparation and veneer placement all happen at our office at 6200 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 1609, Los Angeles.
How many visits do veneers take?
Composite veneers are completed in one visit. Porcelain veneers usually take two to three appointments: a consultation with X-rays and impressions, a preparation visit, and a bonding visit once the lab has made your veneers, plus a short follow-up to check your bite and gums.
What problems can veneers fix, and what do results look like?
Veneers cover stains that whitening cannot remove, chips, cracks, small gaps, worn edges and slightly crooked or uneven teeth. See real patient results in our smile gallery.
